The Irrigation Association, Fairfax, Virginia, is accepting applications for the 2022 New Product Contest. The event, in its 20th year, spotlights new products, technologies and services hitting the irrigation market between Jan. 1, 2022, and Oct. 10, 2022. Applications, which can be completed online, will be accepted through July 25.

This year’s program will be a hybrid event, with virtual and live portions. Contest presentations and judging will be done virtually, while the announcement of the winners will be done live on the show floor during the 2022 Irrigation Show and Education Week held in Las Vegas Dec. 5-9. The format gives irrigation professionals more access to view the products and watch the presentations online, culminating in the live announcement of the winners at the show.

Applications will be accepted in three categories: agriculture irrigation, landscape irrigation and landscape lighting.

“The annual new product contest provides additional exposure of our newest technology to the irrigation industry,” says Meg Mason, vice president of marketing for HydroPoint, Petaluma, California.

Exhibitors entering the 2022 New Product Contest will have their product displayed in the online product showcase on the Irrigation Show website. All products will also be on display in the new product contest area on the show floor at the Irrigation Show.

“The virtual new product judging leading up to the Irrigation Show proved an effective prelude to the contest area at the show,” says Michael Gutierrez, CLIA, CIT, Natural Resources Division, Broward County, Florida. “I was excited to get up-close/hands-on time with the items I learned about online. The new product area affords innovative devices a showcase at the premiere industry event of the calendar year.”

New for this year, awards in each category will be presented in gold, silver and bronze tiers. Winners in each category will receive

  • an award or certificate suitable for display.
  • free publicity to industry media, including social media posts and a press release.
  • customized new product contest logo artwork for company marketing.
  • recognition on the Irrigation Show website.
  • recognition in the Winter issue of Irrigation Today (ag irrigation category).
  • recognition in the Spring issue of Irrigation & Lighting (landscape irrigation and landscape lighting categories).
