Agritechnica, an indoor farm machinery show organized by DLG, Frankfurt, Germany, has been canceled, according to an announcement by show organizers Dec. 13. The show had been moved from November 2021 to February 2022.
The next Agritechnica will take place Nov. 12-18, 2023, in Hanover, Germany.
“With regret, we have observed that, following the deteriorating pandemic situation in recent weeks and the resulting current official regulations, a justified exceptional situation has arisen, under which the trouble-free execution of Agritechnica is no longer possible,” says DLG CEO Reinhard Grandke. “Together with the VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association and the trade fair’s exhibitor advisory board, and following many discussions with both exhibitors and visitors, we have therefore decided to cancel next year’s Agritechnica. We have made this decision respecting our responsibilities towards the health and safety of all. We deeply regret the cancellation. Many of our exhibitors, partners, visitors and members, as well as the entire DLG team, have already invested in extensive preparations. Our focus is now on preparing Agritechnica 2023 as well as the other national and international DLG events and trade fairs that are scheduled for next year.”
According to an AgWeb article, as of February 2021, John Deere would not be exhibiting at the event, which was scheduled to take place in November 2021. Organizers in March 2021 postponed the show until February 2022. But a fourth wave of COVID-19 is expected by German officials, bringing on additional restrictions.
Organizers had expected 2,000 exhibitors at the now-canceled Agritechnica. A DLG spokesperson said programs had already been published and travel arrangements made, as well as innovation award winners announced.
“Even though Agritechnica cannot take place in Hanover next year as planned, it remains an opportunity to focus on the innovations in the agricultural machinery industry,” says Freya von Czettritz, Agritechnica project manager. “That is why we have announced the winners of the leading innovation award for international agricultural machinery, as planned. Our thanks go to the DLG Innovation Commission, which awarded one gold and 16 silver medals for exceptional innovations.”
The award winners are published at the Agritechnica website, and DLG will officially present the awards next year.
The additional digital complement to Agritechnica, launched in November 2021, will continue to be available on DLG’s digital platform until the end of March 2022.
