The latest edition of “America’s Farms and Ranches at a Glance: 2023” was released in December 2023.

The annual report, a collaborative effort by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service and Economic Research Service, offers a comprehensive overview of U.S. farm and ranch characteristics.

Utilizing data from the Agricultural Resource Management Survey, it categorizes farms based on annual revenue, the principal operator’s main occupation and ownership status. The 2023 edition delves into the operational differences across farms in 2022, highlighting diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds of farm operators.

The ERS hosted a webinar about the survey that can be viewed here.
