USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has opened its June Agricultural Survey. The survey asks 90,000 producers nationwide to share information about their crop acreage and grain stock levels for use in the department’s quarterly reports, which support industry decisions.

NASS Administrator Joseph L. Parsons recognized that it is a busy time of year but encouraged producers to participate. Responses can be submitted online, by phone or through mailed questionnaires.

In the department’s press release, he said, “When producers take part, they help ensure that the nation’s agricultural reporting remains accurate, transparent and free from speculation. Their responses directly support decisions made by farmers, ranchers, researchers, private industry and policymakers who depend on trustworthy data.”

Survey findings will be included in USDA reports scheduled for release June 30, including the June Acreage, September Small Grains Summary, quarterly Grain Stocks, monthly Crop Production and January Crop Production Summary.
